Indianapolis, IN – The National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP) has selected four individuals to be inducted into the CGP Hall of Fame. The 2022 Hall of Fame class includes Charles W. Collier (deceased), Philip Cubeta, Emil J. Kallina II, and Winton C. Smith Jr. The 2022 Hall of Fame class will be honored at the CGP national conference in Reno, Nevada, on October 26th.

The Hall of Fame is CGP’s highest honor. The lifetime achievement award recognizes those whose life's work impacts charitable gift planning in profound and meaningful ways, advancing the mission of CGP and bringing credit to all the professions engaged in charitable planning. The inductees have devoted service to and support of the field for a minimum of 10 years and have been outstanding influencers in the work of charitable gift planning.

Charles W. Collier was the senior philanthropic advisor at Harvard University for 25 years. He graduated from Andover Academy, received a bachelor’s degree in religion from Dartmouth College and a MTS degree from Harvard Divinity School. He began his career in educational advancement at Dartmouth and worked as a major gift officer at Andover, a planned giving officer at Brown University and Director of Planned Giving at Princeton University before joining Harvard University in 1986. While at Harvard, Charlie became a pioneer and internationally recognized expert in philanthropic advisory and family wealth counseling.

Charlie wrote Wealth in Families which Harvard University published in 2001. The book became a widely heralded resource for professionals advising family-owned businesses and family wealth counselors. In 2004, Charlie was named to the NonProfit Times Power & Influence Top 50. In 2012, he received the Fithian Leadership Award from the International Association of Advisors in Philanthropy and the Harvard Medal for “extraordinary service to the University.” In 2014 he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Family Wealth Report. When he was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s in 2008, he became an advocate for the disease and its sufferers. The Cure Alzheimer’s Fund honored Charlie in 2014 for his work as an Alzheimer’s advocate. 

Philip Cubeta, CLU®, ChFC®, AEP®, MSFS, CAP® is a Professor of Practice in Philanthropy at The American College of Financial Services. Prior to this, he served as the Wallace Chair in Philanthropy at The College, where he was responsible for the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) designation.

Before joining The American College, Phil served as Chief of Staff for The Nautilus Group, a service of New York Life Insurance Company, providing estate, business, and philanthropic strategies to affluent clients through 200 of the company's top agents.

Phil's original training was in English Literature, Williams College, BA; Philosophy and Psychology, Oxford University, MA; and English Language and Literature, Yale, MA, M.Phil. He also holds the Masters of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) from The American College.

Phil serves on the Planned Giving Advisory Board for The Carter Center (established by Jimmy and Rosalind Carter). He is a past President of the North Texas Council of Partnership for Philanthropic Planning. In 2012 he was, along with Charles Collier of Harvard, honored with the Fithian Leadership award by Advisors in Philanthropy. In that year he was also the “Power of the Purse” awardee (Advisor category) from Dallas Women’s Foundation.  He has served on the Board of National Association of Estate Planners and Councils. And he is a member of The Leadership Institute of National Association of Charitable Gift Planners.
