Indianapolis, IN -- The Mid-America Planned Giving Council (MAPGC) of Kansas City, Missouri was awarded the honor of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP) Council of the Year.

The CGP Council of the Year award recognizes a council that demonstrates significant achievement in the preceding year. This award celebrates innovative programming, special events, membership growth, community impact and other areas of contribution to the charitable gift planning field.

MAPGC has been active since the formation of the National Committee on Planned Giving in 1988. Mid-America Planned Giving Council offers a variety of networking events, exemplary programming, scholarship opportunities and hosts an annual conference. The Council’s focus on membership strategy included the addition of a new emeritus membership and resulted in an overall 35% growth in membership over the past two years. MAPGC celebrated their 30-year anniversary with a Founder’s Day Celebration that honored their past, celebrated their present and built excitement about their future.

“We continue to increase the value of member benefits by elevating the level of speakers and increasing the number of national speakers we are bringing in,” said nominator William Riek, “In addition, we are increasing the number of networking events in the months without programs so that there is something going on every month of the year.”

MAPGC established scholarship programs to enable non-profits and professionals the opportunity to attend the national CGP Conference, the MAPGC regional conference and a local membership scholarship to experience the value of council membership.

MAPGC is scheduled to adopt the new name of Mid-America Charitable Gift Planners this fall, to more closely align with the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners.

The National Association of Charitable Gift Planners is committed to improving the art and science of the charitable gift planning process. We equip members with relevant resources, including guidelines, articles, model documents and samples that help enrich and advance careers.
